Ground Gear Rack for Robot 7th Axis Tracks

Product Description

Core Selling Points

· Teeth ground after heat treatment - removes hardening distortion for accurate tooth geometry.

· Accuracy DIN 5 or DIN 6 for positioning over long travel.

· Spur or helical, module 1 to 10.

· Joinable sections for tracks of any length; matching precision pinions available.

Application Scenarios

· Robot 7th axis (robot transfer units)

· Ground rails for welding and palletising robots

· Long-travel gantries in automated cells

· Machine tending lines serving several machines

Detailed Introduction

A 7th axis moves a whole industrial robot along a floor track so one robot can serve several stations. The carriage carries the robot, a servo motor and gearbox, and a pinion that drives on a rack fixed to the track. Any rack error appears directly as a position error at the robot base.

Hardening improves wear resistance but distorts the rack slightly. A ground rack is hardened first and then ground, so the final tooth form and pitch are produced on hardened steel. This is why ground racks reach DIN 5 and DIN 6, while milled racks normally sit at DIN 8 and DIN 9.

On long tracks, fewer joints mean less accumulated error: use the longest sections the transport and installation allow, and set every joint with a gauge.
